Ottawa School of Theatre offers:  All Season Fresh Air Theatre Classes

If the Forest Schools can do it for a whole day all week- OST can do it for 60-90 minutes per week! Be covid safe and mask free while adventuring in theatre. 
Fresh Air classes will be held in the Cumberland Senior’s Park, NE of the Shenkman Arts Centre with a performance in June in the Gazebo

In 2020, we brought the first two acts of Shakespeare’s The Tempest to life in Part 1. Now in Part 2, tried and true tempestuous teen Thespians tackle an adaptation of the last three acts focusing on character development, language and voice, and exploring the world of Commedia dell’ Arte where Shakespeare took much of his inspiration for his characters.

In sketch show comedy, students will learn improv skills, joke-writing, and character-comedy, devising and developing their own comedy sketches. Using the virtual nature of this class, students will also learn to record and edit their own sketches, adding sound effects and cutting their performances together for maximum comedy effect. A final performance will be hosted by the class as they stream their recorded sketches for a live audience.

Whether you’re a seasoned veteran or just starting out, Teen Acting Troupe is a good way to build your writing, character building and acting skills. Improv comes in many different shapes and sizes. This class will focus on the traditional competitive form of improv. Created in 1977 as a mix of theatre and hockey, in this game the goal is to be more entertaining than your opponent. Students will learn the rules of competitive improvisation, as well as general skills to be able to navigate the “ice”.
